My friend Elaine has the sweetest term for that special time women have sitting around the table and sharing life. It's a phrase she learned from her mom. It's called, "Coffee and..." time. Coffee and a cookie and a little conversation...Coffee and a tissue and a little encouragement...Coffee and advice and a little motivation...You get the picture.
I think that's something sorely missing in women's lives today. Coming together to encourage each other as we share the every day struggles and joys in our lives.

I'm sure that all of us left behind a long list of things we needed to get done that day but nothing that couldn't wait as we fed each others souls and shared the Christmas spirit.
We are already planning our next time together after the holidays. I say it's time we women fought to bring back our "coffee and..." time. I know it's a different time, a new era but in so many ways I think we need to be there for each other now more than ever. Don't you agree?
I agree! I remember ladies having "coffee and" and I have always loved the idea. I'll be right over!
ReplyDeleteOh yes..that is important time to schedule in. I have 2 friends that I meet twice a month just for that reason. I cherish that time with them. Loved this post. Very refreshing. Deb=^..^=x4

Your table looks so lovely. I'm sure all enjoyed their time at your home.
Patty, it was such a wonderful day. Ending it at your home, with Coffee and, was perfect. You are a delightful hostess, and I am honored to call of you ladies my friends!

That's wonderful! It's so good to carve out that girl time and it's so easy to put off doing it.
ReplyDeleteHow nice! It was wonderful that you could get together.
ReplyDeleteI remember, when I was growing up, that my mom and two (or maybe three) of her friends would get together for lunch once a week. They would take turns hosting. They were all stay at home moms back in the 60s/70s. Maybe it helped keep their sanity.
What a wonderful time...Yes, I agree!
ReplyDeleteOh this is such a great post. Yes!!! I know I am missing that in my life. More regular connection with other women just feeds my soul and I feel so blessed to have met you Patty. If you had not invited me over that day I would not have got to know your wonderful nurturing spirit. You just have a way that makes people feel so welcome and comfortable. Thanks Patty for becoming my friend. I know we will be friends for a very long time. Plus we live so close and how great is that. Can't wait until your retirement. Coffee and very often I think.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you had a wonderful time! I miss those days of leisure with my friends...
ReplyDeleteI so totally agree! I spend most of my time at home and don't get out very often but I am craving to have some "coffee and..." time.
ReplyDeleteAfter the first of the year, I hope to find some blogging friends who live in my state of Oklahoma just for that very reason. Any of your blogger friends from Oklahoma?? :)
Oh! This is the thing I miss most about teaching . . . time over coffee with my sister-friends! You've inspired me! Now I'm more determined than ever to carve out a morning or two for that over the Christmas break!
